Vans shoe History Book!
Update: I have been informed that if everything goes according to plan, the Book should be out in June 2009! More info soon to come, so until then...
Vans shoe History Book!
Yes, ladies and gentlemen, Dyemond Apparel Custom Vans will be featured in the up and coming Vans History Book! They contacted me, asking to photograph a pair of shoes I had tricked out for a boutique in Boston, called Oak. I recreated the shoes, sent them off to the Vans shoe headquarters and the rest is history! My shoes, along with other custom artisans will be featured in the "DIY" section of the book, sort of as a tribute to one of the many cultural phenomena surrounding Vans shoes. I just received them back yesterday, and let me tell you, I am excited! To have my name, and pictures of my custom creations in a book showcasing the history of one of my favorite shoes is an honor. And what gets me even more stoked is that I am being recognized by the Vans Company! That in itself is an accomplishment.
No news yet as to when the book will drop onto shelves, but when I hear, you'll be the first to know!
Here are the shoes they featured (with professional photograph, of course):

Dyemond Apparel Custom Slip-Ons
"This DIY custom shoe biz has an interesting approach. The lead artist, Ashley Brackins, does limited editions of no more than 15 pairs of any one of her designs. She signs and numbers each edition just like a print series. Kicks from Dyemond are definitely meant to be worn since each of the designs is heat set so that you don't have to worry about loosing color. There's not too much worry about dye bleeding onto your socks, either..." Read more here: OFF THE WALL: Talking about stuff about Vans
